Sparring (Controlled Fighting)

Sparring is the sport side of Taekwondo.

It is the application of both attack and defence techniques, and students aim to out score each other by making semi contact to the permitted scoring areas.

All sparring techniques are taught in a controlled environment and under full instruction.

Students wear safety equipment to protect their head, hands, shins, feet and groin area (males only), along with mouth guards.

Sparring is taught in lessons and a great way for students to put all the skills they learn into practice is by competing at any of the given T.A.G.B championships if they so wish.

The official TAGB Sparring equipment is the only permitted brand. This can be purchased from your club instructor.
